The wooden Santa Claus has been designed, hand carved and painted by a famous artist who also specializes on crafting Russian nesting dolls.

The unique design combined with the sophisticated carving technique makes this wooden Santa a true work of art. Holding a pikestaff in his right hand with the Christmas tree painted on its spire, this Santa announces the arrival of holiday with all his sight.

Featuring a famous and most favorite Christmas fairytale “The Nutcracker”, this wooden Santa is sure to crown your home New Year and Christmas decorations as well as contribute to your collection of artwork. The rich color palette is very natural and characteristic of the season, with brilliant green of the fur-tree and crimson decorations mixed with some ruby, sapphire and emerald ornaments of Santa’s fur coat.

The wooden Santa is holding a nutcracker in his left hand – the same one as the girl Marie received as a Christmas present from her uncle Drosselmeyer. The Nutcracker’s suite is painted in tiny detail, with a saber on his shoulder and his three-cornered hat decorated with a small ruby.

The scene depicted on the front of the wooden Santa describes Marie holding the broken Nutcracker-toy and it swiftly revolves into the fight of the prince against the mouse-king and his glorious victory. Every tin soldier is portrayed vividly and the room in the background perfectly expresses the fabulous atmosphere of the magic story.

This hand carved wooden Santa is noted for the exquisite carving and fine lacquering technique. Actually, the process of lacquering may take up to a month, as the varnish is applied layer after layer and it has to dry thoroughly before the following layer can be applied. But once you take this craved Sant into your hand, you can immediately feel the quality of the make.

A fine example of Russian artistry, this hand carved wooden Santa is a perfect family gift that can be found at our Russian Treasure store.
