If you give even a cursory glance at this Russian Babuska set, you’ll immediately   take a dive into the midst of things of magical Firebird fairytale. In Russian folklore, the Firebird (Zhar-ptitsa) is a magic glowing bird from a faraway land that blesses and brings doom to its captor and owner. You can see the Firebird depicted on Russian Babuskas as a large bird in majestic plumage that brightly glows in scarlet, orange, yellow and golden light, like a bonfire that is just past the turbulent flame. Zhar Ptitsa is painted on Russian Babuskas according to Russian popular belief as a smallish peacock of fire colors, complete with a crest on its head and tail feathers with glowing "eyes".

The story of the firebird comes in many different forms, these Russian Babuskas represent classical fairy story of Firebird, that later was retold by Peter Yershov.
