If you give even a cursory glance at this Russian Babuska set, you’ll immediately   take a dive into the midst of things of magical Firebird fairytale. The Russian Babuskas set consists of five beautifully painted pieces of art. These Russian Babuskas were personally selected from the artists that we have worked with for many years.

In Russian folklore, the Firebird (Zhar-ptitsa) is a magic glowing bird from a faraway land that blesses and brings doom to its captor and owner. You can see the Firebird depicted on Russian Babuskas as a large bird in majestic plumage that brightly glows in scarlet, orange, yellow and golden light, like a bonfire that is just past the turbulent flame. Zhar Ptitsa is painted on Russian Babuskas according to Russian popular belief as a smallish peacock of fire colors, complete with a crest on its head and tail feathers with glowing "eyes".

The story of the firebird comes in many different forms, these Russian Babuskas represent classical fairy story of Firebird, that later was retold by Peter Yershov.

On Russian Babuskas you can watch the key scenes and characters of the fairy – Ivan catching the Firebird; Tsar Berendey asking Ivan to bring him the Firebird that ate golden apples in his orchard; Ivan and his Humpbacked Horse, etc.

On the upper part of each Russian Babuskas a young Russian girl is drawn, probably the artist wanted to depict the Beautiful Helen, the girl, for whom he had struggled so much. Russian Babuskas artist painted the girl as fairy-haired beauty with marvelous large kind sky-blue eyes. On Russian Babuskas, the Beauty Helen is shown wearing traditional Russian flowered kerchief, masterfully painted in details by highly-skilled artist.

The Russian Matryoshka Nesting Dolls can be a perfect fit for your collection of Russian fine art, as well as a Birthday’s gift for your friends.
