This lacquer box is worthily considered a masterpiece of Russian artistry. Hand crafted by a famous artist (artist's name) in the village of Fedoskino, this Fedoskino lacquer box is personally selected from the artists that we have worked with for many years.

The motive of the unique design of this lacquer box is based on a wonderful Russian fairy tale "Marya Iskusnitsa" (or "Marya, the Mistress of the Needlework"). The soldier is coming back home after fighting for his country for many years in remote lands. He sees a boy Ivanushka, whose mother, Marya Iskusnitsa, had been stolen by Tsar Vodokrut. The soldier's kind heart and quick wits appear to be stronger than Tsar's devilment, and the mother and son are finally together.

The composition of the lacquer box shines with coy elegance: Marya Iskusnitsa, a woman of heavenly beauty, is occupied with her work, bewitched by the evil Tsar Vodokrut. The exterior of the box completed with black lacquer emphasizes the radiant turquoise of Marya's sarafan, while the golden accents, embellishing the garments, enhance the gracefulness of the lacquer box design.

This lacquer box is particularly noted for its refined oval shape – a perfect place to store one's jewelry or other precious things. A rich and complex gold floral ornament wraps around the sides of the lacquer box.

A sophisticated technique of clean lacquer finishing imparts a marvelous depth to the image of Marya Iskusnitsa in the foreground of the box. And the shimmering gems in the casket remind of the fabulous nature of this work of art.

This lacquer box is constructed from paper-machee, resting on a flat bottom.

When you consider getting a real treasure for your loved ones, take a look at this lacquer box – it is sure to produce a most deep impression on those who appreciate true art.
