This unique museum quality set of Matreshka dolls has been inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece "The Virgin of the Rocks".

The artist has embedded the images of the Madonna, baby Jesus, John the Baptist and the angel Uriel into these Matreshka dolls by means of a fine painting technique, skillful application of watercolors and an exquisite lacquer finish. The effect achieved by this set of Matreshka dolls is truly breathtaking. Rotating each Matreshka doll the viewer is being carried away by the background of the images, which is painted in subtle watercolors and gives an impression of observing it as if through the veil. The theme at the back of each Matreshka doll image discloses rugged landscapes, scenes of fighting, wooden churches and the walls of ancient Jerusalem.

Using rich shades of vibrant sapphire and crimson, the artist has depicted  the Madonna and the angel Uriel bringing their images to the foreground of the Matreshka doll's view, while the quiet colors of the surrounding landscape – gobelin blue of the sky, dim grey and obscure brown of the trees and churches at the background – arouse a feeling of mystery hidden behind these sacred images.

The representation of holy scenes in these Matreshka dolls is mixed with painting tradition inspired by the masters of the Renaissance, namely Leonardo da Vinci. Therefore this set of Matreshka dolls will be appreciated not only as a symbol of devotion; it will also make a perfect gift to the connosieurs of pictorial art, presented for Christmas, Easter, or any other religious occasion.
