A fine example of Russian artistry, this set of Babooshka dolls features a wonderful fairy tale "The Stone Flower" written by P. Bazhov. The plot is based on the miners' tales of the Ural Mountains.
The Babooshka dolls tell about a young carver Danila, whose urge to learn to appreciate the beauty of stone led him away from his old mentor Prokopyich and bride Katya to the realm of the Mistress of Copper Mountain. The second Babooshka doll pictures the scene where Prokopyich tries to avert Danila from thinking about the stone flower and to persuade him to marry lovely Katya, but Danila's thirst for the unknown appears to be stronger. The next Babooshka doll displays desperate Katya, whose beloved had left her. But Katya's love and devotion appeared to be greater than the bonds of the Mistress of the Copper Mountains, and the last Babooshka doll presents the happy ending of the story – Danila returning with Katya to their village and living there happily ever after.
Each Babooshka doll dazzles the viewer with its face – an ideal image of a beautiful Russian girl, with kind olive eyes, dressed in her best garments: deep sapphire kokoshnik with rich golden accents and a red festive kerchief decorated with tender pink roses. The soft watercolors of each Babooshka doll's background make the overall picture even sweeter.
Consider this set of Babooshka dolls as a perfect birthday or St. Valentine's gift that will express your feelings better than words. A unique piece of Russian artistry, this set of Babooshka dolls is personally selected from the artists that we have worked with for many years.
