This exquisite 5 piece Russian Matryoshka Nesting Dolls set features the most famous fairy-story from the book The Malachite Casket, written by famous Russian writer Pavel Bazhov, who based his stories on miners' tales from the Ural Mountains. The Urals, on the border between Europe and Asia, is the oldest mountain chain in the former Soviet Union and are famous as a source of precious stones and metals, including gold and copper ores such as malachite.
The most famous character from these stories is the Mistress of Copper Mountain, a protector of gems and stones in the Urals, who capriciously bestows the ability to find such treasures only on those who please her. The legend about the Mistress of Copper Mountain and the beautiful stone flower is described on these Russian Matryoshka Nesting Dolls.
The Matryoshka Doll set is hand painted by the famous artist well known by intricate details that she puts into the dress, kerchief and kokoshnik (Russian traditional head dress). Russian Matryoshka Nesting Doll set is richly decorated with ornaments that resemble precious and semi-precious stones – ruby stones, amethysts, jaspers, axe-stones, etc. Every jewel feels real and three dimensional. The head of the Mistress of Copper Mountain is decorated with golden laces, pearl beads and copper stones, her fingers have fairy rings with ruby stones and emeralds, her long-long fair braid is decorated with pearl rope. But it’s useless to enumerate all the precious stones and decorations, painted on the Mistress of Copper Mountain. No words could give you even the slightest notion of their beauty till you see them by your own eyes. Also, a great attention was paid to kerchief decorations – here you can see elegant snow-white laces, exquisite flower ornaments and… even prints of lizards! Because according to the legend, the Mistress of Copper Mountain could turn into green lizard.
The artist of Russian Matryoshka Nesting Dolls has masterfully illustrated the tale about a talented stone carver Danila, who had a dream to carve the most beautiful flower out of malachite stone and other semi-precious stones.
Danila wanted his stone flower to look like real one. The man left his family and went to the stone kingdom of the Mistress of Copper Mountain.
They both are depicted an almost every Russian Matryoshka Nesting Doll. The Mistress of Copper Mountain tried to charm a young man and make him forget about Katya, a girl he loved. Katya’s love was real one, not like the one of the Mistress of Copper Mountain. That’s why the girl managed to bring back Danila.
These exclusive Russian Matryoshka Nesting Dolls were designed solely for Russian Treasure store. The Matryoshka Doll set “Stone Flower or Mistress of Copper Mountain” will make a perfect gift for St. Valentine’s Day!
